Wade Darnell and the Windrock Mountain Boys will play bluegrass.

Stony Point Kat Starr and her husband Chance English return this year to play their mixture of folk, jazz, blues, and classical music. They will be joined this year by Allen McBride. Allen and Kat grew up in Oak Ridge and were members of the Celtic band Dundrennan, who performed traditional and original Irish and Appalachian music throughout East Tennessee.

Danette McCrary She will play instrumental music during the presentations.

11:00- 1:00

Liz and Tim are returning this year to share their haunting two-part harmony and arresting arrangements with us. Their musical style gives fresh perspective to the lasting themes of traditional mountain music: longing for home, love of people and place, the power of stories, and the need to laugh even in the face of troubles.

1:00- 2:00

Frost Bottom Boys are not actually all boys. They play a blend of bluegrass, gospel, and americana with a bit of rock and roll attitude. They are Jamey Oran, Andy Howe, Amy Dale, George Charles, Tom Bates Chris Voorhees, and Shawn Schaetz.

2:00- 3:00

Four Leaf Peat Celtic Band comprised of Rick Hall, Chad Beauchaine, Matt McNeely, and Oak Ridger Jason Herrera.

Herb of the Year: Calendula

Calendula is Herb of the Year 2008, as designated by the International Herb Association. Jean Weaver, distinguished herbalist from Greenville, will have a marvelous display and handout to inform you about this very valuable herb. She and her daughter, Lori will be present to answer questions and share their knowledge in front of the fountain throughout the day.

Farmers Market Fresh, in-season produce, honey, cheese, organic bread and granola, organic meats and poultry, farm fresh eggs, plants, fresh cut flowers, and fresh herbs (of course!) are all available to peruse and purchase. Starting at 8:00 and lasting until it sells out.

8:00- 10:00

Cooking Demo: Breakfast with Herbs Chef Xavier Presley will demonstrate Cooking Breakfast with Herbs and Fresh Produce at the farmers market, located across Broadway.

9:00- 11:00

Herbal Tastings Under the yellow-striped tent will be a booth called Cooking with Herbs where you can sample little bites of delicious herbal food such as Roasted Potatoes with Lavender and Rosemary, Green Gazpacho with Cilantro, Mint, and Thyme, etc.

10:00- 11:00

Lavender Program Inside an air-conditioned space next to Friends' Fabrics and Yarns Above featuring:

Cooking Demo: Grilling with Herbs Chef Erik Freeman will demonstrate Grilling with Herbs under the yellow-striped tent.

Food & Refreshments

No need to pack your lunch when you come to The Lavender Festival. Here are some of the choices you will have. There will be plenty of tables and chairs under the tent where you can eat.

Coffee and Smoothies will be available from RN Fit on the west side of the square. Fish sandwiches will again be sold by Chapel on the Hill near Broadway. Middle Eastern specialties can be found near the playhouse at Mediterranean Delights. Organic foods, including gluten free, will be available from Rachel's Touch of Love Catering.

Barbeque and trimmings by Vernon's Burnin' can be located by following your nose. Lavender Lemonade and homemade bread will be available from the Epicurean's booth on the south side of the square. Lemonade will be available from Michelle under the trees across from the fountain.

Water will be available at the information booth. Bring your own container, or purchase a compostable cup for a small fee and refill as often as you like.

Ice cream, wonderful ice cream will be dipped at Razzleberry Ice Cream Lab on the east side of the square. Salads and soup will be served at The Soup Kitchen on the lower level of the square. Coffee, breakfast, and lunch will be available at Beans 'n Things on the corner.
